You gotta seabiscuits every night, or you can't see biscuits at all...

...and I'm back!  Spent the past week primitive camping in the Nicolet National Forest.  Pit toilets and water pumps are two of the luxuries we've enjoyed.  Bathing is done in the lake.  Just checking in to see what's been happening.  Glad to see broken bones are healing, jobs are secure, children are promising, art is being appreciated and bacon can be kosher; among the other good things happening here.  Too bad the world is still so f*ck'd up though.  I see we are now under a mask mandate here; got to find out what that's all about.  I honestly thought we'd be past that point by now.  Now to do laundry and repack everything to get ready for some more nights under the stars without masks on! Oh yeah, saw many more Trump signs than Biden in northern Wisconsin.

Good grief, I'm just heading back to the forest (with my rebel flag and Trump flag with me). They really don't understand us at all, do they?

Get far enough outside Boston and see more Trump signs, too. There is a pickup truck with a big Trump flag that drives around, too.

People on the left have absolutely no idea how people on the right actually think.

People on the right understand exactly the thinking of the left, to some extent better than the leftists themselves.

Most of our country's political divide derives from that cognitive gap.

Reply to lucius septimius in 6: One of my sisters is "left".  She's allowed to voice her opinions but when I try to rebut, she shuts down the conversation with "well, I don't want to talk about politics" and changes the subject.  They ( the left) won't even try to hear another side of the story.  They are right! No need to discuss it.

Reply to Alice in Dairyland in 7: What really weird is she relies on my opinion/judgement of every other decision in her life.  She's widowed, so there's no longer her husband around to get feedback from.  Ironically, he was about as conservative/right as you could get.  Politically, she's just the opposite now.  I blame her "big city" friends influence on her.  I'm not physically located close to her, so she needs a network of friends.  I can't mess with that situation, so I just let sleeping dogs lie.

That is because we on the right THINK.

Those on the left, the large majority FEEL.

We think about politics, and policy. We examine the history, the results, and the proposals and come to conclusion based on that.

It's also, though, because people on the left make no effort to understand what the right is saying.  They believe all sorts of things that are untrue if not patently absurd -- their perception of conservative thought is a caricature.

The left has been indoctrinated that conservatives are EEEEEVIL!
They don't want to understand evil, just get rid of it. And they have been indoctrinated in it so well that they don't care why it is evil.

I recall a study that came out a few years ago that essentially proved just that. Conservatives and liberals were quizzed on their views on a number of items; then asked to pretend they were on the other side of the fence, and answer the questions as if they were on that other side of the fence. Conservatives did far better predicting what liberals actually thought, than vice versa.   The academics around the study also admitted they had expected to find the opposite result.

Leftists believe in stereotypes, including racial ones. They believe blacks can't succeed without help, and then call those who want to let blacks succeed racist.
