Peaceful protesters mostly peacefully looted all over Chicago last night.  I guess AOC will say that they eat Gucci bags.  Unrest caused by yet another evil police shooting of an unarmed black child man in his late teens early twenties and had fired on them with an illegal handgun.  Of course the local "community organizers" claimed that the cops just shot someone for no reason because raaaaacism or something.

Mayor Beetlejuice is making Bilandic look like a model statesman.

This may be behind a paywall, but a tenured law professor at Emory is suing the school for his one-year suspension (and banning from campus) because he used The Enword in a first-year torts class, while discussing---with a black student---the issue of whether the court record of a 1967 civil rights case had been sanitized, and the plaintiff actually called "the epithet."

The professor is claiming that he was subject to discrimination insofar as black law professors have routinely used The Enword in conversation amongst themselves and in the course of teaching, and claims that he has lost substantial sums as a result of his suspension.  He was also subject to a complaint by a post-graduate law student who objected to the prof's use of the word "enword-lover" in a conversation over the use of the word, which the prof said he'd been subjected to when younger because of his friendships with blacks.

The suspension has been lifted in the meantime, to the extent that the professor has been permitted to teach elective courses to second- and third-years, but the Eye of Wokeness remains upon him.

We're one week away from the Democratic National Zoom Call, and Biden's campaign still hasn't named a VP. We all know he's not making the decision himself. That means there are two or more factions each promoting their own choice. I think it's going down to the wire because the choice is between a black woman as promised, and a white woman, probably Elizabeth Warren or Gretchen Whitmer. It doesn't matter who they pick - what matters is whose candidate they pick. Who are the people promoting each candidate? That will tell you who is really going to run the country if, God forbid, Biden wins.

    Title follies continue.  The police came this morning and confirmed that my car is not stolen (it would have been like my mom to report it thus). Now I'm at home waiting for a callback from the tag office.  I've moved up 18 places in line; now I only have to wait another hour and a half.  But nice of them to use a notification service so I can do it from home rather than stand out in the parking lot.

    Trump was in the midst of his usual Coronavirus press conference, when someone came up to him, whispered in his ear, and hustled him out the door abruptly. There are a lot of possibilities here, none of them good.

    Everyone outside the White House has been asked to go back inside. Law enforcement seems to be active around the lawn.

    They're about to restart the press conference, according to Fox. John Roberts said there was a sound like firecracker that caused the Secret Service to react.

    There was a shooting at 17th St. and Pennsylvania Avenue. Trump says the person was shot by Secret Service, but that may or may not be accurate. He really should shut his pie hole until there's more information.
