Howdy. So I had a momentarily scary experience yesterday. I was crossing an avenue, right after the light had changed in my favor, when a car that was turning left from the cross-street just across the avenue and to my left simply made his turn... and accelerated straight toward me. I had to run to get out of the way. And guess what? The car was... Uniformed Secret Service. The driver didn't even look at me, just proceeded down the avenue as if nothing had happened. ACAB? No. But some? Yep.

And I had a conversation with my knee-jerk (D) friend who lives in the suburbs of Boulder, CO last night, in which I mentioned the riots in Denver. He had no idea what I was talking about. "I mean, I heard about protests in Denver, but nothing about riots." Of course. Because NPR forgot to tell you about the riots.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 2: Isn't that what happened to Jim Treacher years ago? IIRC he had a serious leg injury and he needed lawyers to get the Secret Service to take responsibility for it.

In #3 Occasional Reader said: "I mean, I heard about protests in Denver, but nothing about riots." Repeat a lie frequently enough etc. etc. etc. I'm waiting to hear my cousin's take on the riots in Kenosha. I'd bet you dimes to donuts that he was this guy's attorney at some point -- he likes to take those cases.

Reply to doppelganglander in 4: That rings a bell, yes.
It was goddamn scary. I shudder to think what would’ve happened if my little boy had been with me, I would not have been able to move as fast.
