Gosh, it sure would have been nice if the corporate media hadn’t embargoed the Hunter Biden laptop story before the election, no?

Did you call the Monty Python "Abuse" Line by mistake? If not... who was it?
We have some equipment that is old technology (first developed in the 60's) but is still serviceable and provides us with something we still need from time to time. We have a maintenance contract with a company that makes the equipment (still). It was starting to fail in a way I've seen numerous times, so I called the support line, explained the situation, and the guy on the other end was surprised that I knew what was going on. That was Tuesday. Yesterday, I was trying to connect the new device and was running into a problem. I called back in and got the same guy. This time, he was rude, obnoxious, and after we fixed the one problem, we ran into another one. Rather than say that he would need to have someone with experience in that issue to call me back, or transfer me to the receptionist so she could connect me, he just said bluntly, "you need to hang up and call the main number again" in the most obnoxious voice I've heard in a tech support person in ages. He made no attempt to be polite or explain that someone else would need to help me--which I would have understood if he had taken the time to explain this--but he clearly just wanted to get rid of me as quickly as possible and in as rude a way as possible. I just hung up on him rather than let loose with the string of obscenities I wanted to throw at him. When I got through to the group of people supporting the software, the person who took my call freely admitted this wasn't his area of expertise but said he would route my issue to the best person to deal with it. The contrast between the two was night and day; he was respectful, recognized his limitations, but said it in such a way that he realized he needed to bridge the gap between me and the person who could help me. I've done technical support and managed a support center. I would have fired the first guy and worked on training the second guy. It is almost impossible to train people to get the customer service mindset as well as the second guy understood it.

Fruits of the induced labor shortage, perhaps. You know who seems to do customer service training exceptionally well, at least in my area? Citibank. Their tellers and bank officers around here are superb.

Note this paragraph: The police union and associated groups have blamed the growing lack of respect and funding of law enforcement for the spike in attacks. You could just as easily just say "Democrats did this", but the FOP don't want to put the blame on the party. It's another case of passive voice with no agency.

Then Citibank understands the value of customer service. The companyI'm dealing with is hurting, but they are still trying to drum up service for 1960's tech, and even we will stop using this at some point in the next ten years. They need to pivot to another product and they don't really have one.

Nobody was driving apparently. Have you noticed how no one has considered the possibility that it was remotely controlled? We know that's possible because of James Bond.

WSU amplifies claim that farmer’s markets, food charity are ‘white supremacy’ in action Washington State University is amplifying claims that farmer’s markets and food charities are examples of “white supremacy” and “white dominant culture.” It has nothing to do with helping farmers thrive. This is about creating left-wing social justice activists. The Agriculture Program Coordinator for WSU’s San Juan County Extension Ag Program promoted a webinar event titled, “Examining Whiteness in Food Systems.” During the hour-long presentation, attendees learned that “white supremacy culture” creates food insecurity by “center[ing] whiteness across the food system.”

New York's local version of Morning Sedition had some people going on about the lead-paint situation in New York public housing. Apparently, they've known about there being major issues with lead contamination in public housing for some time (going back pre-deBlasio) in something well over 100,000 apartments. Well, apparently they've claimed to be addressing this---largely by spelunking to one or another selected apartment, gussying it up and pronouncing it "clean"---but they haven't. There's been God knows how much money squandered on this non-cleanup for God knows how many years, and there are still well over 100.000 public-housing apartments unaddressed. The NYCHA is drooling over the projected multiple millions, if not billions, they expect to get from the Bilk Boobs Better bill. Again: the people who cannot competently manage/maintain/repair recently-built, closed, man-made systems are the same ones who are demanding that we give them unlimited hog wallow through the Treasury on an open-ended basis to "control the climate" of the planet.

Oh, by the way...NPR was covering the Terrible Humanitarian Border Crisis on the Belarus/Polish border today. One of the "migrants" they interviewed was from...Cuba. Clearly someone who'd done a terrible overland trek to get to Eastern Europe. One of the things the "newscasters" covered---without the slightest consciousness of the ironies---was how "cell phones, smartphones, apps" were "a real game-changer" in the story of these itinerant "migrants." Cell phones are expensive. Where do these allegedly-impoverished "migrants" get them? How do they keep them charged while living in hardship in the forest? How do they get service? From whom? And in what languages? Why would their phone from Asswipistan be compatible with the service in the Belarussian forest? Seems...a little strange to me.

Reply to JCM in 34: The Mosque Upon the Mount Mohammed rode the night horse, or so the Muslims say Mohammed rode the night horse to a mosque so far away And his followers the Muslims, coming after his death, claim That the mosque upon the Mountain is the mosque the Koran names. Never mind the mosque upon the Mount was never even there At the time Mohammed---so they claim---took his ride in the air. Never mind the mosque upon the Mount was built in later days--- Mere factual reality did ne'er a Muslim faze. Broadcast on Al-jazeera, in the seething Arab street, Are echoed calls to Muslims that they must not retreat That they must not cede unto the Jews they hold of no account Possession of the Mountain and the mosque upon the Mount. The Muslims lost the mosque and lost the Mount on which it stands A foolish choice was made then that it stay within their hands And feverishly ever they work so as to erase The record of the Temple there---which must take pride of place. The world stands by complacent at the Mount destruction news--- When cared the nations for the holy places of the Jews? But bad though the nations' silence be, the silence that is worse Is that of Jews who stand by as the destruction occurs. Why should a people conquered justly through the force of arms Be permitted to retain a symbol that does lasting harm? Why should the conquered be allowed to rule the Temple Mount And by this hold their conquerors to be of no account? The mosque upon the Mount is beautiful, or so they say But like the earlier Temple, it also may pass away--- The mosque was built to show who'd conquered many years ago; The reason it was raised is also why it now must go. O Jews, who claim Jerusalem is still your capital How can you claim this when the Mountain still remains in thrall? It is in thrall by your consent. Jerusalem will be Your capital united when the Mount has been set free.
