Blinken says Iran does not seem serious about return to compliance with nuclear deal

All Iran's recent comments have been about removing sanctions, not stopping their nuclear programs. 

"What we've seen in the last couple of days is that Iran right now does not seem to be serious about doing what's necessary to return to compliance, which is why we ended this round of talks in Vienna," Blinken said.

"If the path to a return to compliance with the agreement turns out to be a dead-end, we will pursue other options," Blinken said, but declined to spell out what those would be.

Given the current administration, I think the most will be some strongly worded letters. To Israel, for attacking the Iranian program.

Iran walked back all the compromises it made in previous talks on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal, it pocketed the compromises made by others and it asked for more in its latest proposals, a senior US State Department official said on Saturday.

Iran continues to accelerate its nuclear program in pretty provocative ways and China and Russia were taken aback at how far Iran had walked back its proposals in last week's talks in Vienna, the official told reporters on condition of anonymity.

Explosion reported in Natanz, Iran

An explosion was reported in Badrud, located east of an Iranian nuclear enrichment facility in Natanz, on Saturday night, according to Iranian media.

Initial reports indicated that Iranian air defense systems had been activated. According to the Iranian Fars News Agency, a bright light was seen in the sky as the explosion was heard.

Fars later reported that the explosion was caused by an air defense missile that had been fired as part of a drill to test a quick response a possible attack.

The governor of Natanz County told Fars that exact details are still unknown.
