I am continuously astounded by the shear incompetence of State and Executive for the last 4 decades regard Iran.

The mad mullahs have never been popular. It was the Feckless Rabbit Bait who allowed Khomeini to identify opposition and purge them due to his incomprehensible handling of the crisis. Every since then we studiously avoided the internal opposition in Iran, at various degrees threatening, ignoring or pandering to the mad mullahs.

We have to appeal to the Persian Culture in Iran. It predates Islam and for centuries Persians adapted Islam to the Persian Culture. That is the fault line in Iran that be exploited.
