FROM LAST NIGHT:

In #14 Alice in Dairyland said: NYC actress fired after rant over Jason Rivera funeral: Streets closed 'for one f------ cop' But it's okay to burn our cities down when some thug is killed by a cop?  Glad to hear she got a lot of backlash over her thoughtless comment.

And should she need the police, they still will be professional and help her.

Maybe the same guy who put the thermostat that controls three offices in the office with a leaking window?

Or the people who mount it on the wall that has the washer/dryer behind it; such that whenever the dryer, in particular, in running, the thermostat "thinks" it's summer.

Good morning.

To be the contrarian here: I do think police overdo it at times with these funerals.   Yes, honor the fallen.  But people are still having to live their lives, get to work and to home, take their kids to school, etc.  There is no need to shut down entire city centers or (as I've seen around here) shut down large sections of major highways.

Kind of like the time a few years ago that I got a spam phone call that (putatively) came from... me.  My own number.

I agree, but the post was quite insensitive and demeaning to the police. The f-word in particular.

Of course.  And it shows that people like this actress (whoever she was) are incapable or unwilling of exercising enough decency and self-control, to even make a semi-valid point like a grownup.

An optimist?  I guess I'm a pessimist because we put our remote one in the coldest spot in the yard.  I want to know just how low we can go.

I don't think that is their intention, at least for a funeral.  They're giving support to the grieving family and trying to show this issue means something to them.

From what I understand, several blocks around St. Patrick's Cathedral were closed to traffic for the event.   That's a huge impact on traffic flow in the city.  The other example I referenced above; some years back I was driving northbound a major Maryland state highway; the entire southbound section of the highway was closed to traffic... except for an absolutely enormous police funeral convoy (at least a mile long).   That kind of takeover of public thoroughfares doesn't sit well with me.

And from Canada

The small fringe minority of people who are on their way to Ottawa who are holding unacceptable views that they are expressing do not represent the views of Canadians who have been there for each other, who know of that following the science and stepping up to protect each other is the best way to continue to ensure our freedoms, our rights, our values, as a country,” Trudeau said Wednesday.

You and I, although on the same planet, live in different worlds.  My idea of a traffic jam is three cars ahead of me at the car wash.  I can understand how this inconveniences you, but I also understand these people wanting to express their feelings.  No one hears a single voice complaining, but when there is the opportunity to join their voices with others, maybe they can be heard then.  I'm not saying it's a good thing to shut down traffic, but I am sympathetic to their feelings.  Maybe if these processions were announced in advance, people could plan their lives around them.  Of course, that may make things only worse as more people may show up.  Kind of like a Trump rally!

Then there is this guy (way down in the article)

Unfortunately, not everyone was feeling the spirit of paying tribute to the life of the officer who was murdered during a cowardly ambush. One New York City public school teacher took to Instagram and posted a suggestion that someone might want to take a vehicle and plow into the sea of police officers. Christopher Flanigan, a math teacher in Brooklyn, received an immediate response and is probably wishing he’d kept his opinions to himself about now.

Uh, really, Alice?  This doesn't seem like a bit of hyperbole, given the subject matter?

"My idea of a traffic jam is three cars ahead of me at the car wash."

Um, okay.   So now, imagine that, and raise it to an exponent, or two, or three.

" I can understand how this inconveniences you

I wrote absolutely nothing about me being inconvenienced.

"I also understand these people wanting to express their feelings

Feelings?  That's it?  That's the criterion?

"Maybe if these processions were announced in advance, people could plan their lives around them.

I'm sure they were announced in advance.  What I'm talking about here is a question of scale.   And if, for instance, you're trying to get your sick child from your home on the east side to the pediatrician on the west side, it's kind of hard to just "plan around" the whole area between those two points being shut down.

Fauci's own NIH has said the same thing.

Conclusions:

Moderate-certainty evidence finds that large reductions in COVID-19 deaths are possible using ivermectin. Using ivermectin early in the clinical course may reduce numbers progressing to severe disease. The apparent safety and low cost suggest that ivermectin is likely to have a significant impact on the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic globally.

I am merely expressing my opinion on this.  I appreciate your side of view too though.  You show me a side of life I am not familiar with and it is a learning experience for me.  I value the input of all the commenters here; they remind me I live in a world beyond on own backyard.

Looks like the Canadian truckers have shut the US border down.  Maybe now they can go to work on the southern border for us too.  Wish Phil or Kenneth would chime in on this.

Just a heads up, but it sounds like they are planning a convoy/protest from California to DC.  I don't know when it's planned for though.
