Lucius Septimius, Sorry to hear your turn of events. I've had the just opposite situation. After cleaning out the households of four parents, I'm left with stuff nobody wants! We're all old ourselves and not looking for additional things and not many kids (2) to pass it on to. Am considering looking into other branches on the family tree to see if there's any interest. Stuff like birth & baptismal certificates, immigration papers, diaries, memorabilia type things. Some are written in German and French; I've considered contacting the local Amish for help with the German. I've posted documents and photos on genealogy websites, so it is available to anyone who want to see it. It would be nice to find someone that actually would appreciate it physically. I had to almost laugh when you mentioned the china. I've got two sets I have no use for! I do feel bad for you though; it's like suffering the loss of your mother twice.

Reply to Alice in Dairyland in 8: Your local historical society might be interested in the documents and photos, especially if you can identify the people in the photos. Old yearbooks are great too. My daughter volunteered at our local history museum and did a lot of tagging and cataloging of that sort of thing.

Reply to doppelganglander in 9: I have all four of my mother's yearbooks, 1935-1938. The '38 one has printed on the cover "50th Anniversary". I considered the museum in that town. The historical society is another option, but I'm always afraid they'll go out of business as our towns always seem to be shrinking in population and pool of volunteers to staff them diminishes.

Reply to Alice in Dairyland in 10: Yeah, a lot of those little farming communities have become depopulated. No one is going to love your stuff as much as you do, but I still think a historical society is the most likely to preserve it.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 11: Were I a betting man, I would say that the chances of Slow Biden, or his son Gatherer, facing consequences of any sort for their corruption would be somewhere between zero and nil.

I concur. At most, they will get hit with a fine, which will be a pittance compared to how much money they've made. See: Clinton, Hillary Rodham.

Gah. Had a conversation with my boss where the amount of work we're doing was mentioned, and the answer is: it's only going to get worse. I'm spinning my wheels so fast, I can't get any traction. But hey! Throw more stuff on the to-do pile!

Reply to vxbush in 14: I'm not so sure. I think the dems know Biden is killing them at the polls, so they want to find a way to get rid of him before the midterms. One PJM VIP article a week or so ago gave a possible, but unlikely scenario. They'd also find some way to get rid of Harris; but first, Pelosi would step away from the Speaker of House. Apparently the Speaker does not need to be a congressrat, so the Dems would make Hillary speaker; then get rid of Harris and get who they wanted to be president before Trump. I admit this scenario is far-fetched to me, and has some holes in it, but the sudden appearance of Hunter's laptop in the MSM tells me something is going on.
