Reply to Occasional Reader in 1: Where I work (since I'm starting again next week; different group) had online sensitivity training (forgot what it was called) that specifically said NOT to ask a person for its pronouns, but if you get them wrong, apologize and explain you did not know. If they state them first, that is OK but not to ask the person or anyone else, or tell anyone else about a 3rd person's pronouns. I believe getting them wrong can get kids in trouble in some school systems. BTW, a while ago, the Babylon Bee had someone telling his woke son that his pronouns are "Let's Go Brandon".

I so want to have someone ask me that and I can say, "Tech Goddess", "Her Techiness," and "Owned by the Goddess." I haven't had the courage to do it at work yet, though.

Do corporations have pronouns? After all, they are "persons" under the law.

And the reason that you might not see a picture is because the link is to an unsecure image (http, not https) and Chrome and some other browsers will not show insecure and secure content at the same time, as it allows the insecure content to potentially access secure content, such has having password-stealing scripts or fake logins on top of a real site. Since I use Chrome to set up threads, I will see that it won't work before posting.

I do not "have pronouns"; my nouns have elected to retain their amateur status.

Reply to vxbush in 4: I can't tell if they reproduced the bacterium or just sequenced the DNA. The latter is just data; cannot infect anyone, and is useful should some other bacterium develop similar genes and become more dangerous. However, after COVID, I do not trust medical researchers. Too many of them make movie mad scientists look sane.

However, after COVID, I do not trust medical researchers. Too many of them make movie mad scientists look sane. You're right; it isn't clear exactly what they did to me, although perhaps a biologist would understand exactly what they did. But usually I can wrinkle out what the meaning is with a bit of searching, and I haven't had a chance to go into this in much detail. If "Peter Daszak" is involved in any step of this work, though, my alert level goes to DEFCON 1.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 9: To make it a "disease" again you have to splice the sequences into a pathogen. Problem is you have actors like China, N. Korea, and Russia who would do just that.

Since Hollywood is so big on doing 80s sequels and reboots, I eagerly anticipate My Dinner With Andre II: Dine Harder.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 15: Given the way Hollywood is today, they'd use a different Andre - a deepfake Andre the Giant, but make him a real giant with superpowers.

And now it looks like the sale of my house and hence my purchase of a new home is about to fall apart because of a tree.

The tree is in a neighbor's yard but if the planned new construction would interfere with the roots of the tree then they can't build. So I may be stuck with a pig in a poke - a house that can't be sold and that is a piece of trash.

So the potential buyer's dream of making a fortune in this winter's Yule Log market was shot to hell.

Speaking of trees, a lot of squirrels are being evicted. Tree with a lot of hollow branches (squirrel tenements) is in bad shape and coming down. One branch broke a few weeks ago, causing the neighbors (it is on their property but overhangs ours) to investigate, find it needed to come down. Tree company started working on it today.
