Good morning, campers. The latest indictment against Trump isn’t intended to become a media circus. Oh, no. How could you think that? Unlike the past indictments of the former president, where the judges took care to not turn the actual in-court proceedings into a spectacle (i.e. by not allowing cameras), this latest indictment turned into a low-budget reality show. The star of the show was the Fulton County court clerk, who welcomed a gaggle of media to follow her around the halls of the court as she solemnly walked the paperwork to her office, surrounded by armed guards. It was reminiscent of Nancy Pelosi marching Trump's articles of impeachment through the Capitol Building. Everyone knows what's really going on.

Q: why on earth is Gov. Newsom agreeing to a debate with Gov. DeSantis? What is the motivation? Everyone is writing about the debate, but the genesis of the debate is barely discussed. Apparently it started with Sean Hannity when he interviewed Newsom, but why would Sean ask for this? Why seek a debate with someone who hasn’t gone through the steps to become a presidential candidate? I know there is speculation that he will swoop in after Biden gets either removed from the race (via any number of scenarios) or convinced not to run, but the optics of this are really weird.
I didn’t think Hannity had this kind of sway with a Democrat governor (and it is odd that Newsom agreed to go on his show). I didn’t think the Democrat leadership had lost this much control, unless this is intentional. This doesn’t look like 3D chess.

Oh, I am pretty much right there with you. So I'm trying to understand the thinking (not reason, so far as I can tell) that makes the ones making the decision (be it Newsom or someone else) into why they think this is the right next step. If I can understand this, maybe I will be better able to predict future moves. Maybe.
