In yesterday's #13 Kosh's Shadow said: BTW, I had been reporting obvious scam ads on my phone, like "New DOdge Ram for Seniors $10,000". They removed the option to report ads as scams Why am I not surprised? They take money from grifters because they want that much money. It gives them more power.

Reply to vxbush in 6: Many many years my dad was working with a radio station that broadcast Persian language christian programming into Iran. The station offices were in the US and broadcast from the Seychell Islands. One morning the FBI came in ordered everyone to evacuate. They had intel that an Iranian team had been identified that want to kill everyone and blow up the offices.

Reply to vxbush in 9: Do you have any idea of how radical that judge must be if the radical leftist prosecutor thinks she's too far left?

Won't this distract the FBI from their usual job of... targeting former Trump officials?

In #12 JCM said: Do you have any idea of how radical that judge must be if the radical leftist prosecutor thinks she's too far left? From reading the article, I got the feeling that it wasn't an issue of her being to far left, it's that she wasn't determining her rulings based on any laws at all, or even any lefty interpretation of the laws. But I also understood that the prosecutor ran as a Republican and won. We need to double-check the information on this case--but not today.

I also considered that it would distract them from those dangerous Christian Nationalists....who never describe themselves this way but have actually read the Declaration of Independence.

Reply to vxbush in 15: The Iranian team was very quietly scooped up, briefly in the news as Iranian spies or something. This was early '80s. The station offices relocated and covered as some boring type of business. They still broadcast to this day.

In #14 Occasional Reader said: Hey, at least "Barbecue" and his boys appear to have decent trigger discipline, so that's something, I guess. (Also, interesting that he's toting a Galil; you don't see a lot of those in this hemisphere, outside of Colombia, which makes me wonder if there's a FARC-Haitian Gangs weapons pipeline; considering also that most of the assassins who hit President Moise were Colombian.) I wondered about this Haitian group having help, but couldn't decide who would benefit most from Haiti being so destabilized.

I think we're beyond that. A Bukele only works if he has a reasonably competent police and military that is capable of defeating the gangs in combat. That's not the case in Haiti.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 24: True.... I was thinking along the lines of the Occupation of Japan. But that wouldn't work either, Japan was untied and defeated. Haiti is a civil war and failed country. You need a strong man to impose his will... and that's ugly. But once order and stability has been achieved that same strong man has to step back and let proper civil institutions take over.
