It's  raining gatos y perros here in DC, and looks like it'll be doing so all day.  I'll be taking Little OR for a walk in the rain in a little while; he is enthusiastic about "splashing in puddles".

PJMedia---which suddenly became an "error site" a few minutes ago---had an article about some state which, while supposedly "re-opening," including places of worship, has put a ban on hymnals, Bibles, and communion.

It is astounding that no congregation in the country defied the church bans on Easter, and that they continue to roll over for such bans---especially in the "gun-friendly" states.

A group of people with firearms turned out to defend Cliven Bundy over his dispute with the federal government over mere grazing rights, which one would think of lesser importance than defending the inalienable rights of religious freedom. That there is not one congregation in the country where the members have turned out under the guard of their fellow-congregants to ward off state interference makes the many declarations of devotion to Constitutional principle I have heard over the years, and the many fatuous "we have guns" declarations which often accompany such declarations of Constitutional devotion, ring hollow indeed.

Knox County, TN, has permitted churches to "re-open," while banning "communal items, such as tithe plates, hymnals, bibles..." Some "re-opening!"

As to "social distancing," even accepting the questionable premise that it was and is a necessary thing, it does not justify the way police treated the parking-lot gatherings---nor would it be a violation of "social distancing" to have people spaced and staggered in pews.

I'd say just think of the .38 Special as the strikingly loud handheld alarm, and focus only on carrying that.  (I mean, technically, it does give an audible alarm to miscreants, a few thousandths of a second before the bullet hits)

I have not been afraid at all during these past months but got a little creeped out when . . . 

I brought 4 round containers of Lysol wipes, in plastic bags mind you, to my other workplace (an allergy and asthma clinic).  The purchase of which took 7 days.  One per customer when available.

A patient who was waiting his turn in his car to come into the office (social distancing required - one patient at a time) asked me where I had gotten the wipes he saw me carrying.

Gah! I had no idea I was in the possession of something worthy of such notice.

Still not afraid, but a lot more aware of what people notice in a time of shortages.

TP is more abundant these days.  There is a steady resupply, wipes and hand sanitizers, not so much, at least not in my area.

Meat, still plentiful and no hoarding, despite the media coverage of meat packing plant closures.

Walmart.  I get there at 6:30 a.m. (my shift starts at 7 a.m.) and check if any are on the shelves.  

Calling the store ahead of time is a futile action.  None of us know when anything will arrive and when it does and unloaded and stocked, it evaporates like a drop of water in hot skillet.

Right place.  Right time.  My observation.  Good luck.
