I woke to the sound of rain against the bedroom window. It rains here a bit. Governor dickhead has extended the shutdown in Washington state through to the end of May. He is allowing ten counties to apply for permission to open up. These ten counties are small population counties with very low case counts. The rest of us are going to be stuck waiting for some mysterious magic set of secret metrics he is using to watch what is happening in King County, the most populous and the worst affected by the virus. I don’t think that People are going to wait for the Governor What I think is interesting to note about where the disease is most problematic, is that they are urban areas where there is a higher incident of using mass public transit. I would guess that mass transit, such as busses and subways are a significant factor in how the virus spreads. the low incident counties may have a bus service, but they do not have a very high ridership.

So little man and I had a pretty good view of the blue angels and Thunderbirds fly over. We were up on the roof deck of our building. I was worried that it would get crowded and we have to abandon that plan for social distancing reasons, but we were the only ones up there at the beginning of it, and only two other people showed up before the flyover ended. I’m a little surprised, it was the perfect viewing point for this part of DC.

Reply to Syrah in 1: Washington State is not New York. i would feel differently about this if I was living in New York or anywhere on the North Eastern seaboard. https://www.seattletimes.com/life/what-inslees-4-phase-plan-to-reopen-washingtons-economy-means-for-your-life/ The County that I live in has just over 150 cases and 2 deaths from CV19. They are not telling us how many of the 150+ have recovered. It is a cumulative measure. The staff in our local medical facilities are being laid off due to low censuses counts (not enough patients).

Reply to JCM in 2: Kim’s little disappearing act had an interesting way of revealing who his primary rivals are for the crown. His sister may want to be very careful in the future.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 3: I got outside just in time to see it from my parking lot. I had planned to go across the street to the park, but it turned out to be a great view. As expected, they did a loop over the north end of my city (which I couldn't see) and took a second pass directly over my house. They came in very low, too. As a "Salute to Heroes," it's a bit hokey, but it always gives me a thrill. You don't see the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds together very often.
