As my dad always used to say, if it doesn't fit, force it.  if it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

As I always say: if at first you don’t succeed, try reading the instructions.

Software used to come with big, thick manuals that no one read (and, being written by tech writers, never explained anything difficult you wanted to do, just the stuff that was obvious.)

Now, you at best get a card that tells how to install it, if that, and maybe help files that when you search for something, doesn't find it, but when you read a section, you see the term you were looking for.

Worst software installation? Somewhere in the 1990's, I worked for a company that sold image processing applications for government and military use. Another company had a database system (based on Oracle), to search images. They had developed the system under government grant, so it was free. BUT they made it so that only they could install it successfully, so they'd get paid for each installation. They competed with us, so we were not going to get help installing it. We ended up getting a third company to get it installed and put it on a disk for us.

And for your viewing pleasure, here is Joe Biden, attempting to have a conversation with a pre-recorded question:

Throws volume 32 of the manual at OR!

*dang he ducked*

I spent my first two months at this gig, doing onboarding and going through trainings and manuals. Then set up a test server.

This whole thing has been 3 steps forward 2 steps back a step sideways.

My boss is getting fed up with the problems.

COOL!
The largest outdoor screen in Korea appears like a giant aquarium with a wave pool but is in fact an anamorphic illusion.

Seems that people stuck at home have turned to sending spam. Got 12 in the last couple of hours, all caught in the spam filter.(I have to check it, as for some reason, email from the security clearance people gets stuck there, too, although I won't be hearing anything from them on a weekend.)

If this continues, people stuck at home will be turning other people into spam.
