I'm watching the RNC online. You know what a hardcore, law and order type I am. I'm here crying about a former armed robber who now runs a program to help inmates reenter society, whom Trump just pardoned. I hadn't planned to watch at all, but I heard such good things about Day 1, so I tuned in. This is incredibly professional and well-produced without losing the human touch. It puts Trump's compassion for ordinary people front and center. It shows how out of touch the Democrats and the NeverTrumpers are. This is the new face of the Republican party and I'm on board with it.

Reply to doppelganglander in 1: Trump has gotten sentencing reform passed. He has sent more to historically black colleges than any president before him. He's allowed opportunity zones to put people to work in the inner cities. He's helped blacks and other minorities more in 3 years than the Democrats have done in 30 - or more. But then, the Democrats are the party of the KKK

The Dhimmicrats are against antisemitism when it is found in the Republican party. But in their own party? First Biden comes out against Linda Sarsour. Then his campaign apologizes to the Muslims. For the Democrats, antisemitism is a game of pin the swastika on the elephant.

Reply to midwestgak in 13: I am usually impervious to advertising, marketing, and all forms of persuasion. Every one of the speakers tonight has hit me right in the feels, as the kids say. I don't feel at all as if the RNC is trying to manipulate me into voting for them. I feel as if I'm being given the privilege of seeing how Trump's policies have offered life and opportunity to so many people. It's something I have never seen before in politics - it's inspirational.

Oh, damn. Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf just swore in 5 new American citizens. The president is welcoming them now. It reminds me of how proud I was when my daughter-in-law became a citizen four years ago.

I find I agree with a NYT columnist, but not on the desirability of the outcome We both think Biden's comments about shutting down the country for COVID will lose him the election. I think that is a good thing.
