Since "classic ballparks" are all the rage, my humble proposal for a throw-back ballpark combining the most infelicitous features of classic ballparks of the past:

1) Psychotic distances -- 500' in straightaway center but only 258' at the right field foul pole (Polo Grounds)

2) Hump in the outfield (Baker Bowl)

3) Corner jutting into center field (Griffith Stadium)

4) Petting Zoo (Municipal Stadium, KC)

5) Ginormous flagpole in play (Tiger Stadium)

6) Infield built over the city dump so trash occasionally works its way up through the dirt (Comisky Park)

And, from Crosely Field, the most infelicitous ballpark of all time:

4' "terrace" in left field

Gap under outfield fence that balls can roll under

Clubhouses behind the left-field bleachers so players have to walk through the stands to get the field.

Doesn't Fenway Park have some endearing characteristics?

Many -- I'm looking for crappy characteristics, like Luke Appling catching his spikes on an old copper pot in the infield dirt.  I'm designing a Field of Nightmares here!

The Green Monster (left field wall) is 37 feet high and 310 feet from home plate.

I just caught the last 5 minutes of the Braves and Cardinals. Braves were down 7-3 and came back with 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th, but it just wasn't enough.

You know a lot about defunct baseball stadiums. A video game featuring all those parks would be interesting. You could incorporate the old-time players and their real statistics.

I'm wondering if PJ Media or some such place might like a piece on the Field of Nightmares -- so many ideas for designing the most horrible ballpark imaginable.

Take Candlestick Park.  One a good day, you'd get winds in the outfield registering Force 13 on the Beaufort Scale.

Candlestick Park was on right on the bay.  You would bring a jacket with you even on a summer day because it would get cold if the winds were blowing off the water.
