So, self isolating. Good thing my friend is a neighbor. Asked if they could pick up a few grocery items tomorrow. Chief of these items is rum.... our Alcohol is depleted as of tonight, and we are going to need the self medication for the next couple of days. Then there's food for the Squire of course.

Vitamin D, too. It can cause problems over 4,000 IU, but you might not have trouble with more, either. I take 2,000 IU a day to be safe

Insane week. FIL was hospitalized last weekend, got him home and Mrs. JCM has been staying with him all week. Working to get him into some type of assisted living facility. Hats off to all the single parents... a week of it and I'm beat.

Reply to PaladinPhil in 3: What Kosh said. And zinc (but do your homework).
Instapundit has had a lot of stuff about the benefits of Vitamin D with covid, you might want to scroll thorough the threads.

I've been taking a 2000 IU capsule every day for a few months now, as well.

Reply to JCM in 5: It's been over 20 years since my father ended up in a nursing home. He was an hour or more away, so we couldn't visit every day. And it was the summer. He hated air conditioning, but could not handle hot weather. I set up a window AC in his house, but he wouldn't go into the room.
The visiting nurse found him in bad shape and he had to go to a nursing home. He wouldn't eat their food. I went to a kosher deli once a week and brought food to the home for him to eat over the week.

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 11: My husband is in assisted living and he doesn't eat much of their food either. He calls his sisters, nephews, daughter and I to get him junk food, like Zingers, Twinkies, HoHos, potato chips and red vines.

Reply to @PBJ3 in 12: At least I got him kosher chicken and vegetables. Rubins Deli, now closed (before COVID - the people who ran it retired) I do remember the place he went to after that. My wife and I thought the food smelled good but all he'd eat was the candy bars and so on the Dominican help brought to him. They couldn't have been paid that well, but still gave him food. At least before that, we had some good times. And with this, I'm tired for some reason. I think I need more exercise. Maybe I should chase the dogs around the yard. I might check back in a bit, but if not, good night

Dang if the plastic toilet handle didn't break again tonight. This is the second or third time this has happened with that toilet. It's not like it's that difficult to take off the lid and pull up on the flapper chain but what a hassle. I'm not sure at all if I will be able to replace it myself. There is a plastic nut on the inside that I will probably have to remove and replace. Before he started getting sick my husband was considered by many to be the best plumber in town, now here I am and we are out of business since late March of 2019. The last plumber we had working for us passed away on December 31, 2019...only 54 years of age. He was with us for 15 years and such a nice guy. He quit right before we went out of business. I think he knew he had to take care of his health. He got a job at a USC hospital.

If you are still here, Kosh, do you know if jamgarr was ever invited here? He's a nice guy and I don't know his e-mail but he posted on Facebook today and I remembered that he was still with us on the other blogs.
