From the daytime thread Reply to Occasional Reader in 32: Look for the 1943 short story "And Mimsy were the Borogroves" (Not the stupid movie made from it recently) Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 34: Mimsy Borogrove? It is my understanding, BTW, that hot peppers are one of the many things---including potatoes, tomatoes, chocolate, avocadoes, and maize---with which the New World blessed the world at large when Columbus and the other explorers came here.

Discussion question; my ex has offered to keep my son until after inauguration day, instead of the usual Sunday handoff. This, in case there is trouble in DC (she is now in exurbia Maryland). I’m not sure what to think about this, whether it’s a sensible precaution or a hysterical overreaction.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 12: I don't think "hysterical overreaction" is out of place these days. While I suspect that any "unrest" that may hit the District will be confined to the government-building areas, one never knows.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 13:
my neighborhood was completely quiet last Wednesday; and during the riots in late May early June, and there was just one incident of the windows of a jewelry store being broken a couple blocks away. But still, like you say, who knows what could happen. Sigh.
