JCM, regarding your Clarence Thomas comment downstairs: during the hearings my direct manager was a black woman with whom I got on well. We discussed the hearings, and I was 100% on Thomas's side. My thought was, I couldn't believe a man of his stature and character would do what he was accused of. Plus, why would Anita Hill follow him to another job if he'd behaved so badly? Janice was entirely on Team Anita. I don't know if it was black woman solidarity or what. I think time has vindicated Thomas. I've always wondered if Hill was promised something in exchange for her testimony.

Reply to doppelganglander in 5: I don't know if you've watched the documentary. But it is worth it. It is mostly him narrating his life, first he has a wonderful voice and is a fantastic story teller, and I was surprised they let him tell it. The Anita Hill part is in there. I haven't, but I want to. Oldest daughter met him when she was an intern at Heritage. She couldn't say enough nice things about him. She also met Mrs. Thomas when she worked for her PR firm - she was somewhat less impressed with her.

Reading Grey Lady Down about the NY Shturmer, all the propaganda that is fit to print. Too bad today we are still sucking up to dictators, and putting down real democracies. (Exhibit 1, the UN, especially the UN Human Rights Council" or whatever they call it. A bunch of gangs complaining about crackdowns on organized crime.
