I think my all-around favorite pub is still "The Malt Shovel" in Edinburgh. 

Now, there's no one thing about it that's so smashingly superlative; it's just a classic pub, with very good locally-made ales, and its setting in the Old Town cannot be beat.

I had a phone screen with Assbook a few years ago. Surprised, because I don't use it.

They discussed several possible positions - content delivery network, networking, video, other stuff, been there, done that. Easily could have done everything they discussed.

Not interested.

They aren't the only place that has interviewed me that I think was only an excuse to say they couldn't hire an American so had to go to H1B

My suggestion is, if a company insists on H1B they have to justify it. They inform people they interviewed who showed anything close to the skills, explaining why they were rejected. They have to explain why.

That might not be workable, but this would be - don't hire Americans, pay extra unemployment taxes, and those Americans rejected get extended benefits, paid for by companies that hire H1B

Make them feel it in their wallets.

I won't discuss even in the Frontier what this has done to me.

Fuck Facebook and most other high tech.

Where I work, they can only hire citizens.

Read about some discussion where a reporter was told they couldn't find qualified Americans. Said his wife would fit - they admitted she would cost them too much.

Fuck them. They should have to pay extra unemployment and Social Security taxes to let people they won't hire get unemployment and retire early.
