This trip is being stressful and annoying in so many ways I couldn't have anticipated.  The most interesting, to some extent, is the chaos of her finances.

I suppose she was unable to manage them for some time before her death.

Got a rechargeable humidifier last year. Battery won't hold a charge this year, but does work when plugged in. Ordered another. Obviously repackaged returned item, but was missing a part.

Sent feedback to the seller

Got a reply. In Chinese. Probably cursing me with COVID.

Now I will insist they honor the 12 month guarantee and replace the earlier one as well.

Unfortunately, can't find another rechargeable one that has decent ratings.

I remember taking care of my father's finances for a few years before he passed away. He could no longer remember how to write checks.

(BTW, his Yahrzeit was Tuesday)

At least we had some good time near the end.

May his memory be a blessing. My dad's is on the 21st.

Oh no -- she kept things chaotic always.  I'm going through stuff from the 1950s at this point.  She liked being in control, and her filing system ensured that only she could possibly know where things were.

Who knows what you might find - maybe a passbook savings account that's been accruing interest for 65 years.

We apologise again for the Hitler impersonation. Those responsible for blacklisting the people who have just been blacklisted, have been blacklisted.

I hadn't realized that Cleese went to Cambridge.  He probably was inspired by Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, and the others who started their careers with the show "Beyond the Fringe," which began as an undergraduate show at Cambridge.  It was playing there when I and my family were living there in 1960-61, and my parents went to see it (alas, without taking me along), with the result that Cook & Moore were comedy favorites in our house.
