Looking at all the Halloween house decorations in my mostly-proggie neighborhood---decorations all made out of plastic, i.e., petrochemicals, some of which are inflated by small generators which sound as if they are gasoline-driven---I found myself wondering how many of these likely opponents to fossil-fuel energy have any conception of the huge spike in petroleum usage they are helping to underwrite.
