Quiet night with mom watching football. Now I have to clean up the kitchen. Her decaying kitchen is posing various challenges.

Mom cleaned her plate -- getting her to eat is always a chore so I feel like I've accomplished something.

Reply to lucius septimius in 5: What's the difference between an Italian mother and a Jewish mother? A Jewish mother says "Eat, or I will kill myself" An Italian mother says "Eat, or I will kill you"

Reply to lucius septimius in 5: I remember visiting my father in the nursing home shortly before he died, and thinking the food he had was good - I'd eat it - but he didn't. Before that, he was in another place, and Sundays, I'd go to a kosher deli (now gone), buy chicken, cut it up, and bring it to the home for them to serve for him. At least he had some time to see his granddaughter play lacrosse on BU field, where he would take me to watch football. As much trouble as all this was, I knew it wouldn't last, and would be the last time to connect with him.

A Jewish mother says "Eat, or I will kill myself"
An Italian mother says "Eat, or I will kill you" My Jewish mother was more like: Eat, or I'll kill myself and make you feel so guilty you'll kill yourself
