I've never been in that position myself. I did train someone else in the company's arcane software build procedures, to find we both got laid off.

And my boss tried to get me back as a contractor a month later because they hadn't been able to build the system since. The company refused.

Reply to lucius septimius in 1:  FWIW, I've been in similar situations. My advice is to remember that you are, first and foremost (AFAIK) a teacher. As such, the success of your student(s) reflects very well on you. The student probably was willing to work cheaper than you would, and you can use that to ease the pain of not getting the position.

If the student is willing to cooperate, this might even be parlayed into a strong positive for your next application.

Funny how I'd feel more a Kapo supporting the Democrats with Omar, Tlaib, and other Jew haters in their midst, that somehow the Dems cannot condemn. Or Sanders, who claims to be a Jew but hates Israel. Bernie, where do you think you will go when the Jew-hating dems take over (G-d forbid!)
