Just saw yesterday's vid of the British flag being taken down at the EU, and was struck by the fact that they merely folded it in quarters and toted it off. When I was in the Scouts, there was a whole ritual to folding the flag; first, into four quarters lengthwise and then into triangles from the "far" end, so that the blue-starred field would be showing when it was finally folded into its proper three-cornered shape.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 1: I remember that there was a correct way to fold the flag, as you describe. Maybe it is different in England? Or maybe the EU's wanted to show disrespect? But not too much by dragging it through a pigsty.

If anyone is in touch with gak, congratulate her on Superb Owl Sunday. Meanwhile, I hope that those who indulge have laid in the proper supply of sausages for Ground Hog Day.
