Reply to Syrah in 7: Meeting with a former co-worker next week sometime. She was laid off after I was last May. She's got an interview soon with Amazon. I'm going to go over Amazon interviewing with her... She doesn't really need it she's wicked smart. She's got aerospace experience but is on a H1B and can't work at Kuiper on that visa. I hope we can find a restaurant to have lunch at!

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 11: i took a friend shopping this morning. The Super WallyWorld was very well picked over. They had beans on the shelf. 1 bag of Lima beans and 1 bag of mayocoba beans. No rice, except for a few boxes of rice a roni. The soup isle was nearly cleaned out. This is so surreal.

There was light traffic on the freeways today. Lighter than usual. The restaurants are darned near empty. The stores look like it is Sunday, which it is, so not much to say about them. The movie theaters are empty. The sun is out. The weather is pleasant. This is a lot of economic disruption.

Reply to Syrah in 3: I've spent a lot of time at the hospital in the last two days. The BF is recovering well from surgery but he keeps spiking a fever so they decided to keep him until tomorrow. The parking deck is nearly empty and I see very fewI people, so I assume visitors are staying away. When I go in, I have to be screened; they ask if I have a fever or cough and if I've been out of the country recently. I did kind of a dumb thing yesterday - I took my car to be washed at a place that has a restaurant/bar attached and had a late lunch. It was surprisingly crowded. I am going to work tomorrow, if for no other reason than to get my laptop set up to work from home (I had trouble doing so this weekend). I'm honestly surprised my office hasn't closed yet.

Me, I alternate between feeling like “everything‘s gonna be all right, this is sort of like a super prolonged snow closure”, and doing things like loading all the magazines to my 9 mm pistol, which I did last night....

Yesterday at the assisted living place my hubby is in they had signs up that only immediate family members could visit and must be wearing a mask and not feeling ill, feverish, etc. I decided to take my temp around noon today and it was 98 degrees. I had to exchange something at the drug store which was on the way to my hubby's place but when I finished there I realized my masks were still at home and I had to go back. When I arrived there in my goofy mask they took my temperature and it was still 98. The front desk folks think even I will not be allowed to go there soon. I stopped at a Panda Express on the way home and got pot stickers for dinner followed by a trip to a nearby market with a huge liquor department. They want all of us over 65 to self quarantine so I am trying. I did not go out to my Friday night place on advice of many but I kind of wish I had. I'm glad I stopped off at the liquor store however, LOL.

Reply to Syrah in 35: That's a long time. I don't know how well I will deal with all of this. Our daughter has two roommates, one who makes over one hundred grand a year, herself who makes only 60 to 70 thousand a year and another gal who is a hair stylist. The hairstylist could get hit hard with some type of regulation and our daughter, even with the other gal's help, couldn't care the hair stylist's share of the expensive rent for more than two months and they would be eating plain rice, lol. I'm not entirely sure what would happen with our daughter's county job...she's a supervisor now but her underlings have to be there for jury trials. According to the Los Angeles Times, a few hours ago, the courts, with permission of the defendants, will take 30 days off. I imagine our daughter will lose sick days just to be under self quarantine, if that's what they decide. She has some sick days but she and others who had a lot, donated to a workplace friend who had cancer or something very bad.
