While I can possibly appreciate De Santis wanting to investigate why a second shooter was able to get within shooting distance of Trump, there's a big part of me that thinks he isn't going to be able to learn anything given the Secret Service do not report to him. We still don't know so much about the first attempt; what makes De Santis think he can get more information? Do the Florida State Police have members on hand watching Trump? If so, that might be an inroad.

But in this case, the Secret Service did prevent the potential shooter from cracking a shot. For once, it looks like they actually did their jobs.

Why isn't this bigger news? Everyone should know this. U.S. Debt Interest Payments Top $1 Trillion

However, I'm not enamored with headline writers who through out such figures without explaining what time frame is covered by that $1 trillion. In this case, it means over the 11 months of the current fiscal year.

The expected budget deficit? Near $2 trillion for the year. This is just insanity.

Here is a useful statistic to keep at hand: Rasmussen (source) says, “Only 21% of Harris's voters, her own supporters, think that should be allowed, and yet hardly anybody knows that Vice President Harris is a strong advocate of letting those biological males compete in women's sports.” [emphasis mine]

I can't help but wonder if this is standard operating procedure when Democrats demand the government do things: What happens in Disney stays in Disney: NYC educrats took own kids to Magic Kingdom on trips meant for homeless students.

One of the staffers who took advantage of this blamed the supervisor: "The supervisor in charge not only gave me permission, she encouraged it, and I had no reason to believe that this was against the rules.” Excuse me? You didn't realize that letting the government pay for your trip was illegal and wrong when this was supposed to be for homeless kids? You didn't realize this was unethical? Someone's moral development is severely hampered.

Is Trump’s Would be Assassin Ryan Routh an Associate of MSNBC Terrorism Analyst Malcolm Nance With Ukrainian Ties Mentioned in NY Times Article?

His name isn't as common as John Smith, but there's still a tiny possibility it's not him--although the photos sure do look like our weekend sniper-in-waiting.

GPD is $25 Trillion.

Tax revenue is $5 Trillion.

Spending is $7 Trillion.

That simple is not "sustainable" to use a favorite buzz word of the left.

It hasn't been sustainable for decades. How do you get politicians to let go of the teat?

On the political side our system was never designed for a permanent political class. It was designed for short term service to the nation by accomplished people.

The worse problem is since Wilson the leftists have been training people to look to the Federal Government for solution to any and all problems.

One phrase in the the latest Trump assassination reporting. The shooter poked the barrel through the fence to set up the shot.

That is not someone who has any tactical experience or training. So what every he did with and in Ukraine wasn't combat.

It appears the USSS reacted much better once the threat was spotted.
I however I do have a question. How come the perimeter wasn't at least under overwatch? If Trump was out on the course, the outside of the fence line and road along the fence line should have had eyes on it. Any cars stopping or foot traffic watched closely.

Were I in a conspiratorial frame of mind, I would consider that the Secret Service has been drawing a great deal of criticism for its many layers of manifest incompetence in the first assassination attempt, and that showily foiling a second attempt could be an effort at rehabilitating its reputation.   I might also consider that Ukraine has long been a focal point of the money-laundering and influence-peddling of the Biden Crime Family, and that someone with rather shadowy ties to Ukraine might well be connected to those activities, and might therefore be induced to volunteer to play the attempted assassin in such a shadow-play.

But of course that could never happen---not in the USA.

Leaving aside, for the moment, the increasing obviousness that government elements want Trump dead, notice how nicely chattering about the assassination attempt(s) and the government's "investigations" into them gives the Democrat-allied news media a perfect way to deflect from their flabby, half-hearted attempts to even pretend to cover the (non)qualifications of the Harris/Walz ticket and their appalling stands on most, if not all, issues.

And now, the Paranoia Scenario: Trump wins the election, despite the vote-count shenanigans. Between his being pronounced winner and his swearing-in, an assassin gets him on the third (or will it be the fourth by then?) try.

Because Trump's running-mate Vance was not running for president, but only for vice-president, and neither had been sworn in, the Democrats declare that Kamala Harris, sitting vice-president, is the legitimate president despite having lost the election. If necessary, Senile Joe---if he hasn't yet kicked off before this occurs---will have an unfortunate accident with either choking on an ice-cream cone or improperly operating a MyPillow, so Harris will technically be the actual president (or, they could merely invoke the 25th Amendment, if the other things don't work) and, therefore, will claim that despite having been nominated without a single Democrat vote, and despite having lost the actual election, will---as the sitting president---become the president immediately and be sworn in as such.

I'm pretty sure the Democrats have no idea how much they are undermining democracy with these games in such a way that your scenario doesn't sound implausible at all. I could see something like this happening, or very similar. However, for the first iteration, I expect them to double-down on the processes and procedures that worked in 2020, meaning found and make so many fake ballots to get scanned in key voting districts that swing states all go for Harris and every judge says that anyone bringing a lawsuit again them has no standing.

It's clear she's had little set-piece speeches drilled into her by her handlers.  Not that she gets them right, mind you, but she remembers to go to the talking points, sometimes... "if they ask about inflation, talk about you were raised a middle-class kid".

I've had a similar thought - that Trump gets killed before the election, and some critical states decide that since Vance was not the presidential candidate, votes for Trump go nowhere, so Camel-ass wins

(BTW, in a previous job someone was concerned about something, maybe the nearby cell tower, so we all wore tinfoil hats for a wile. I won't post that picture, even in the Frontier, though)
